The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has raised alarm over what they called Governor Fayose intimidation on the APC lawmakers through the police.
According to the Special adviser to the Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin, Mr. Wole Olujobi said police authorities are searching for the 19 lawmakers for interaction.
According to him; ‘’Before the current move, the members were in possession of intelligence that Governor Ayodele Fayose had enlisted the support of the police in the crackdown on the opposition politicians, including the lawmakers, in a swoop on the opposition politicians for total control of the state.
‘’So far, the police had dropped “invitation letters” in the homes of Honourable Folorunso Ogundele from Efon-Alaye and Honourable Tope Peter Agidi from Ilawe-Ekiti.’’
Responding to the statement, Mr. Taiwo Lakamu, the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State denied knowing anything about the invitation, adding that no one has reported the lawmakers and as such, there is no need for invitation. He advised the speaker, Dr. adewale Omirin to ignore such invitation.
Omirin in his response, said with the denial of Lakanu, the cost seem set for the next phasae of crackdown on the opponent by police force in Governor Fayose’s administration.
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party delegates preparing for the National Assembly primaries this weekend also raised alarm over the governor attempt to tamper with the delegates list for the primaries.
A source who revealed this in condition of anonymity said Fayose picked 25 members of his cronies to replace the actual delegates who were to vote last Friday, instead of allowing other primaries in the state to hold.
“In another situation, he doctored the list of delegates; instead of 54, he called up 64 delegates and insisted that he won by 2 votes. Now, he wants to pick the senators who will represent the zones in the state.
Having rigged the elections in the other parts of the state, he wants to cancel the only place where the primaries were held – Ekiti South,” she said.
Another delegate who would have none of the governor’s antics called on the party to rein him in before “his madness and recklessness rips the party in the state apart and puts it at a disadvantage for the next four years.”
“Last night (Wednesday), he even boasted to the hearing of everyone that he could doctor the list of delegates which had been sent to the party’s secretariat in Abuja.
