Edo APC senatorial race: Obahiagbon, Osagie in tight race

BENIN CITY —THE All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial primaries in Edo State is holding today amid tension.


Meanwhile, majority of the party leaders in Edo Central have endorsed Chief Francis Inegbeneki ahead two other aspirants. The others are Prince Joe Okojie and Theo Oko.


In Edo South senatorial district, it is going to be a tight race between the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Samson Osagie and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Patrick Obahiagbon (Igodomigodo).


In Edo North senatorial district where Governor Adams Oshiomhole hails from, the incumbent senator, Domingo Obende, is going to slug it out with the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, who is from the Owan axis and Chief Francis Alimekhena from Etsako.


Though Vanguard learned that there are petitions against those who won the state House of Assembly tickets in Owan West and Akoko Edo constituency II, however, of the 50 wards in Edo Central, Vanguard learned that the chairmen have endorsed Inegbeneki as the Edo Central senatorial candidate at a meeting yesterday.
