Zoning Of Governorship Ticket: You Are Wrong, Inciting, PDP Tells Ann-kio Briggs

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State Chapter, flays the statement emanating from a delegate to the defunct National Conference, Ann-kio Briggs, taking an exception to her presumed position of the Party on the 2015 governorship election ticket in the State.

The PDP says it was wrong for Ms Briggs, a non member of the PDP, to wake up from one side of the bed and begin to speak on issues she obviously has shown herself not knowing anything about.

From her statement, it is clear that she has limited or no knowledge about the activities and policies of our great party, the PDP. It is therefore, unfortunate that rather than admitting her ignorance of political developments in the State, particularly as it relates to the position of the party on the 2015 Governorship ticket, Ms Briggs has chosen to engage in ethnic agitation, which has no place and not on the table of the party.

To set the records straight, the PDP in the State had earlier and still maintains that its governorship ticket is open to all interested and qualified persons from any tribe or ethnic nationality that constitute the State, and does not at the moment contemplate nor has given its ticket for any elective position to any one as a sole candidate, except its unflinching support and total endorsement of the President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who is today our sole Presidential candidate for the 2015 election.

The Party reiterates its resolve to provide an equal playing ground to all aspirations, no matter the ethnic or senatorial affiliation, assuring that free, fair and applaudable primaries will be conducted by the party through its focused, detribalized and responsible leadership structure at the State and national levels.

It is therefore instructive that the like of Ms Ann-kio Briggs take advantage of this popular disposition of the party by making themselves available and stop sitting on the fence only to pour out venom on genuine policies of the Party.

While we believe our sister may have spoken out of misinformed position, it is also pertinent to note that no one (including Ms Briggs) can dictate to the party, as we are determined to do what pleases the masses as a responsible organization.

We, therefore, call on Ms Ann-kio Briggs or anyone desirous to run any political position on the platform of our great party, the PDP, to register with the party and to come out and test his or her popularity, as such intention will not be denied him/her by the Party.
