Boko Haram not Islamic - Sultan of Sokoto, Governor Ajimobi

As many Muslims continue to distance themselves from the activities of the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents, the President-General of the Supreme Council for islamic Affairs, who is also the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, and the Executive governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, have appealed to Nigerians not to link Boko Haram extremists with Islam.

They both spoke in Ibadan during the inauration of Bodija Estate and Environs Muslim Community Islamic Centre. The Sultan of Sokoto called on Muslims to continue living in peace with non-Muslims, adding that Islam is a religion of peace. He advised Muslims to copy the steps of Prophet Mohammed.


Similarly, Governor Ajimobi denounced any link associating terrorism with Islam, saying that it is a religion of peace.


Ajimobil advised the communities to always play active roles in Islamic affairs in order to develop the religion, saying that whatever they did on earth, including contributing to building of mosques, they shall reap the reward hereafter.


In his lecture entitled, “The Role of Mosque in Islam”, the Chief Imam, University of Ilorin Central Mosque, Prof. Abdul-Ganiyy Oladosu, said mosques had the potential of uniting Islamic faithful without discrimination.
