Power in Rivers State have changed hands but the fight between the former governor, Rotimi Amaechi and the new sworn-in governor, Chief Nyesom Wike may have just started.
The All Progressives Congress in the state has fired back after Wike claimed that the government house was looted by the former administration, headed by Amaechi.
Yesterday, Wike took the Peoples Democratic Party leadership on a tour, showing the rots and the looting in the government house.
It could be recalled that PDP had raised an alarm about before Wike was sworn in that properties were being looted and police was reported to have stopped some of the lootings, properties which were being transported on a vehicle.
Well, the APC has fired back claiming that Wike allegation is one of his several schemes to dupe Rivers people, adding that his imaginary looting is orchestrated.
According to a statement, by State Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone, made available to NAIJA CENTER NEWS, APC who referred to Wike as caretaker governor said he is set to pull a fast one on the people of Rivers State in his numbered tenure.
APC said “The entire drama has been made to look like the storming of the Palace of Saddam Hussein in Iraq in 2003 and later that of Muammar Gaddafi of Libya in 2011, just to prove that Government House, Port Harcourt requires massive refurbishing and repairs. All of this is ostensibly aimed at paving way for massive refurbishment and repair contracts whose costs will be in several billions of Naira for himself and his cronies.
“He (Wike) sought reprieve from evading service for a long term but the slow wheel of justice finally got him and he was served court process. Similarly, we expect the tribunal process to be typically not quick but surely will serve us justice by throwing away the usurper, Barr. Nyesom Wike and save Rivers State from the stranglehold of PDP buccaneers. It is only a matter of time!”
