Nigerian troops on Friday repelled an attack on Shetimari, Borno State, killing two suicide bombers leading a ban of terrorists, the Defence Headquarters said.
The suicide bombers were among many who were killed by the military in shetimari.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade in Abuja.
12 rifles, one machine gun, rocket propelled grenade and some bombs were seized from the terrorists during the attack.
According to Olukolade, troops were still conducting mop-up operation in the area, while others are pursuing those on the run.
Olukolade said incidents of suicide bomb attacks were also recorded in Jimeta Yola and Maiduguri on Thursday evening, adding that the details of the attacks “are still forthcoming”.
He also said that the troops’ operations in Sambisa and other forest enclaves of the terrorists were continuing with intelligence activities; aerial surveillance and highly coordinated air bombardment backed by ground assaults.
He said the details of the operations would be made known as they progressed.
