Some members of the Edo State House of Assembly headed by the speaker, Hon. The duo were fired after a protest led by  casual workers against the government over the stipend unpaid for many months.

The Governor who felt embarrassed over the incident ordered that the permanent secretary and the medical director be fired for disobeying the governor’s directives to regularise the casual workers.

Responding to the plea of the lawmakers on Friday at the government house, Oshiomhole expressed willingness to pardon the sacked PS and the MD on the condition that they both apologize for the embarrassment their disobedient caused the state government.

Dr. Ebereime who sounded excited on the phone while speaking with NAIJA CENTER NEWS pleaded that he was not in the position to talk on the saga as that the governor has called him back.

He said ” You know i am a civil servant, the governor has just called me back and i don’t want to violate the government policy, so i am no longer in a position to respond as it may be counter productive”

Responding to the reason why the casual workers were paid below the minimum wage, Dr. Ebereime said ” That’s what we can afford, they are not under the government payroll and that was why the governor was not happy because the money was too small”
