Presidency didn’t give us N100m – Chibok community

The Chibok community in Abuja, has denied reports that it collected a N100 million largess during its meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa on July 22,2014.

The Chairman of the community, Tsambido Abana, described as false allegations that the largess was shared among the parents and that some were short changed by the leadership of the association.

The BBC had reported that the whopping amount was given to the Chibok parents, adding that many of the parents complained that they were shortchanged and given amounts ranging from N200,000 to N300,000.

But Abana, in a telephone interview on Tuesday, said there was no truth in the report that Presidential officials doled out N100 million to the parents and the escaped girls that held a parley with the President.

He said,”There is no iota of truth in that report. I don’t even want to talk about it because I don’t know how such a story came about. The money that was shared to the parents was handled by presidency officials who gave out envelopes to the parents, so I was not involved in the sharing and I can’t say anything about it.”

Also speaking, Chairman, Kibaku Area Development Association (Kibaku nation), Dr. Bitrus Pogu, also described the allegation as “a lie,” noting that the money that was shared to the Chibok parents was handled by Aso Villa officials.

He said, “The report is a lie, we (community leaders) didn’t share any money. The money that was shared to the parents in envelopes was shared by presidency officials. How can they even give out N100 million? We Nigerians just like stories.

“How can they give out such an amount of money. I don’t know how much they gave because I didn’t collect money, we Chibok elders only led them (parents of abducted girls and some escaped girls) to the President for the meeting.

“All these stories of N100 million is just nonsense, there is nothing like that and it is even funny talking about such a thing.”
