The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says the All Progressives Congress, APC in the State led by Gov Rotimi Amaechi is instigating and sponsoring a group of people claiming to be a faction of the PDP to open a parallel Secretariat in Port Harcourt to create the impression that the Party is factionalized in the State.
Describing that as criminal and the crudest form of playing politics, the State Chairman of the PDP, Bro Felix Obuah through a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Jerry Needam said such plot cannot succeed because the PDP is democratically intact in the State and does not have any internal squabbles.
Prince Obuah warned against any such act aimed at causing crisis in the State, stressing that both the High Court and Appeal Court Judgements recognizing him as the only constitutionally constituted PDP chairman in the State still subsist.
He wonders why rather than strategizing on consolidating his new Party in the State, Gov Amaechi and his cohorts are mainly concerned about the PDP and plotting to cause disaffection among its members.
The PDP State Chairman stressed that the only State Secretariat of the Party still remains No 23 Aba Road, Port Harcourt, warning that any person or group of persons parading as PDP State exco members except the one he superintends will be visited with the full wrath of the law and treated as common criminals.
Prince Obuah enjoins all Party members and supporters to be at alert and be wary of such plot by desperadoes whose stock in trade is to cause crisis because of what they stand to benefit in such a chaotic situation.
He also urges security agencies to be alive to such plot which aim is nothing short of plunging the State in another round of crisis as though it’s a political problem.
Notwithstanding, he added, the PDP as a focused and law abiding party will not succumb to such cheap blackmail and will stop at nothing to follow due process to campaign and clinch all the elective offices in the State in 2015 general elections.
He therefore warned those behind the plot to desist forthwith.
