Oyegun to APC: Victory at polls brings greater responsibility

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie Oyegun, has said the victory of the party in the last general election has placed greater burden on officials of the party to have a greater sense of commitment and responsibility in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Oyegun, who spoke while addressing participants at a workshop for state auditors of the party, said APC victory at the polls has posed a bigger challenge to officials in their everyday dealings.

He said, “I want to remind you that the great victory even comes with a greater sense of commitment and responsibility, now that we are in government and in line with the party manifesto and change mantra.

“We have only started a journey of probity, transparency and sincerity of purpose. Our conduct at all times must be worthy of our aspiration and even our personal lives and most particularly the way we run the affairs of the party.

“I call it a journey because all of us must be involved and no one can be left behind in this new order of managing the affairs of our great but long suffering country. We must bear in mind that we are the change agents worthy of emulation.

“You will agree with me that our victory at the polls comes with more responsibility and exemplary leadership. We cannot emphasise that too much. The activities of our political party in fact is of keen interest to the general public and the international community, as you already know the theme of the work shop “financial management in a political party.

“Much as we are professionals that will want to do justice, I wish to inform you that this workshop is well packaged and keep you in line what is required of you as state auditors.”
