President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday said constant prayers would in no small measure help in rebuilding the nation.

Acknowledging that Nigeria is faced with challenges, he however expressed confidence that the nation would overcome the challenges.

He thanked Nigerians for the support given his administration, saying he would continue to do his best as he was gradually joining Gowon and Shonekan to serve the country in a different capacity.

He equally noted that ‎for a leader to be successful, he must be ready to make sacrifices.

Jonathan spoke at the presidential prayers breakfast held at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said “today (Saturday), I expected a very low turn out because most cases when government is going people  reduces. You will notice that even the chapel the number of people that will be coming become less and less. But when I came in I noticed that this whole hall is filled up, so I have to sincerely thank all of you.

“And we are all here  because we believe in the power of prayers in nation building. The essence of presidential prayers breakfast is to call on all Nigerians to come together and pray.

“When you talk about  building the country you can relate to Nehemiah who wanted to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem after the captivity. We knew what Nehemiah did even before he confronted the king, he prayed.  And every step he prayed and he succeeded in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.
