Habiba Abubkar organizes talentshow to build school, homes for erderly, poor, others

A multiple award winning UN Ambassador, Hajia Habiba Abubakar has taken her Non Government Organisation, Elderly and the Poor to another level.

Habiba has purchased 5 hectares of land worth 2.5 million dollars along airport road in Abuja, to build a home for the Elderly, the poor and homeless children.

Due to the huge capital involved, the philanthropist is planning to organize a “Goodwill Ultimate Talent Show (GUTS), a charity television show/competition, designed by Goodwill Ultimate TalentShow Limited, in association with the goodwill Ambassadors to raise fund for the project.

Speaking with NAIJA CENTER NEWS correspondent on the reason behind the move, Habiba said ” The concept was necessitated due to the abduction of the Chibok children in Borno state. As a result of the trauma the children that escaped went through, a land worth 2.5million dollars was donated to help such children. The five hectare plot is comparable to 7 football fields in size and will be used to develop a school for the less privileged and an elderly nursing home.

“If this kind of school had been available during the Chibok saga, the children that escaped would have had another option other than hawking by the road side or getting married to older men. The same children are still being used as human bombs by Boko Haram, today. ”

“The land is situated at the Lugbe village in Abuja along airport road. It is our strong belief that you would want to be a part and parcel of this project.”

The UN Ambassador also assured those who intend to contribute to the project that their names will be remembered; buildings and some other facilities will be named after them.

“For any persons, companies or organisations that supports this project, depending on the amount of the donation, a block in the school could potentially be named and dedicated to the donor. The name of all other donors will be engraved on a marble wall called the goodwill wall of glory.  Every person that donates is automatically a goodwill ambassador..” She said.

Habiba said that for continuity, the talent show will be organized every year.

Her words “For continued support of the development and maintenance of the school a goodwill talent show will take place every year. This not only supports the project but also provides the contestants with opportunity for a future full of hope. Lastly, the talent show creates job opportunities for everyone involved.”

This is the first time Hajia Habiba is calling on Nigerians to contribute to her project. She has been operating the Elderly and the Poor for years without calling on the members of the public for contribution.
