Akwa Ibom APC accuses PDP of buying voter cards from poor voters

The All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State has alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party is going about buying off Permanent Voter’s Cards, PVCs, from local communities in the State, with the aim of using them to rig next month elections.

The opposition party in a statement by its chairman in Akwa Ibom, Amadu Attai, said the willing voters are often “deceived that government has directed that they should bring their PVCs for photocopying.”

“The disenfranchisement scheme is directed mostly at the strongholds of the APC. The targets of this electoral swindle are mostly impoverished women in the rural areas who are easily deceived and taken advantage of,” the party said, while advising the electorate not to sell or exchange their voter’s cards.

The party condemned the act and requested the police in Akwa Ibom to investigate the issue. It also advised members of the public to report immediately to the police or the APC, anyone asking them to sell or exchange their voter’s card for any favour.
