The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has cautioned the defeated governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the April 11, 2015 governorship election in the State, Dakuku Peterside to be decorous and conscious of his utterances especially on matters pending in Court to save himself the embarrassment of being charged for contempt of court.
Frowning at the unguarded statement by Mr. Dakuku Peterside on Nigeria Info Radio, 92.3 Fm Tuesday, November 10, 2015 on the Appeal Court having concluded plans to recall the sacked purported APC elected Local Government Council Chairmen in the State, the PDP said the intent of the defeated APC guber candidate was to stir up crisis in the State.
The PDP is worried that an aspiring State governor of Mr. Dakuku Peterside’s level is yet to know that commenting on a case before the Court is subjudice and unlawful let alone creating the impression that he, already has the judgement in his pocket.
While berating Mr. Peterside for the infantile behaviour and ploy to drag the reputation of the judiciary to the mud, the PDP said it’s confident that the Nigerian Judiciary still comprises eminent and respectable jurists whose social and ethical stature cannot be demeaned by Mr. Dakuku Peterside’s antics.
Mr. Dakuku Peterside’s attempt to drag the judiciary into politics is highly regrettable, and we want to condemn this in very strong terms, the PDP declared.
The PDP recalled a similar goof by Mr. Dakuku Peterside on same Nigeria Info Radio FM 92.3 when he announced that the Industrial Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State had reinstated the sacked purported council chairmen which turned out to be unfounded.
“We therefore enjoin the Rivers people to discountenance such baseless statements and utterances from Dakuku Peterside whether on the matter before the Appeal Court or any other issue”, the PDP said.
