Tuesday and they are going to summon Jega to appear before the Senate to explain the rationale behind the postponement.
Speaking to newsmen in Kano, Gaya wondered why such a postponement should be effected without consulting the National Assembly, adding that in an ideal democratic setting, the notion of checks and balances must be respected.
According to him, it is not the responsibility of the military to interfere in the nation’s electoral process saying the military institution is only saddled with the task of defending the territorial integrity of the country.
“Even if the election is going to be postponed one thousand times, nothing could stop the victory of the APC. We are ready to call the bluff of anyone behind the gimmick. We are going to win the elections from top to bottom because the electorates are fed up with a lame-duck presidency,” he stated.
He however stated that since the Independent National Electoral Commission had lost its grip as an impartial arbiter, the chief servant of the commission would be summoned by the Senate to explain its role in effecting the decision to shift the elections.
“The Senate is resuming on Tuesday and we are going to summon Jega to appear before us. We want to know the rationale behind the postponement and we are going to take action,” he said.
He called on the people of Kano South Senatorial District to exercise restraint in understanding the situation affirming that victory is on the side of the APC.
Gaya maintained that postponing of the general election cannot the stop the APC from winning the presidential election and that the postponement had cast a doubt on INEC to conduct a credible election.
