Don Jazzy has said he didn’t snub D’banj at Senator Ben Murray Bruce’s 60th birthday as speculated by many.
The thought that D’banj had been snubbed by his former partner and producer was fueled on Saturday at Ben Bruce’s birthday and book launch when Don Jazzy didn’t come on stage when he was invited by D’banj on stage.
D’banj had invited Don Jazzy to join him on the stage at the request of the celebrant who said his birthday wish was for the duo to perform together.
In a tweet, Don Jazzy said as of the time he was being invited to the stage, he had already left the event venue and that he had already announced his retirement as an artiste.
Moreover i had left the venue way before Dbanj’s performance tho.
The battle line between two record label bosses was drawn at the last HEADIES award in Lagos. Ironically the organisers tagged it Flip The Script and indeed the whole script was flipped because for the 1st time there was so much tension in the atmosphere especially around the NEXT Rated category which had Lil Kesh (YBNL), Kiss Daniel (G Worldwide), Reekado Banks and Korede Bello (Mavin Records).

This was undauntedly the most keenly contested Next Rated category since its introduction. The car price attached to it has over the years made the category for promising talents in the industry. I read an article by a DJ saying Next Rated is a non-voting category. I guess he missed it. Every category for Headies are voting categories except the special recognition category. The Next Rated category is not about how big your song is or how many hits you have whether back to back or not. If it were about the hits then the artiste should be nominated for Artiste of the year and not NEXT Rated category.
If it were about how big the song was then I guess Korede Bello should have just been gifted the award because he had the biggest song amongst them and even made more money from his song than others. So it goes beyond songs, it’s about the talent and the prospect which Reekado Banks clearly fits.
I took time out to ask a lot of people who felt Lil Kesh should have won if they voted and out of over 20 people, 19 didn’t know they had to. So how did you expect your favourite to win. If Reekado Banks had the highest votes then he deserved to win.
Olamide YBNL
It was obvious that Olamide was over confident that his protégé would win the award, cause the YBNL crew came to the venue with Lil Kesh the centre of attraction. The YBNL boss walked away with three awards but the most priced was the NEXT RATED for Lil Kesh. In my opinion if he had focused more on voting than the fame, then they would have walked away with the prize. Then came his curses on stage after Adekunle Gold won the Alternative Song category
At this point I would like to digress a bit; Adekunle Gold was nominated with his 1st official single under YBNL, SADE. In the first place, SADE shouldn’t have been nominated for any of the categories it was because it is not an Original song. Many do not know that SADE is a cover of One Direction’s ‘Story Of My Life’. The only difference is the African percussion added and the Yoruba lyrics. I stand to say No Where in the World is A cover song Nominated for an award, so the organizers goofed and well that didn’t seem like OJORO to YBNL and winning the same Category that had ASA, Bez, Simi’s lovely track Tiff and classic Rain on me by Ugovina.
So back to the matter, Olamide’s acts during the headies and after shows he’s not mature enough to handle a competition. His PR team didn’t advise him good, I heard from a close source that the act was planned, he didn’t come up with it on stage. The team knew they would do that at the slightest opportunity, which presented itself with Adekunle Gold. TBH Olamide was a disappointment to people that respected him so much, he said stuffs that he shouldn’t have in his tweet which might haunt him for a long time. Street ain’t about being a Tout, it’s about being smart and precise.

It is normal Don Jazzy responded to Olamide. Well the YBNL Boss didn’t call his name but he disrespected and discredited Reekado Banks with the outrage. Don Jazzy had the right response for Olamide except for his Egbon Olamide line. He shouldn’t have offered Olamide the Car; he should have walked into the audience and given out the car to a random person in the hall or even given it out on Twitter like he does recharge cards. Like the boss he is, he ignored Olamide’s plenty tweets and funny enough no Mavin crew member tweeted anything about the incident. That shows that even though Don Jazzy goofed, he was able to get back to his senses as soon as possible…. That’s maturity at its height.
Wrong step in right Direction
Although bad blood was spilled, I feel this would further open up the Music industry in Nigeria. Everyone would have to work harder. Also the organizers of the Headies need to put their house in order. Also songs that have been supposedly banned by NBC shouldn’t be considered in the future.

Music industry heavyweights Olamide and Don Jazzy have started the New Year by turning on each other, leaving many in the music industry shocked.

Both artistes had collaborated on the song Skelemba, which is included in Olamide’s November 2014 album Street OT, giving the impression that the two were more of friends.
The relationship between both label heads turned sour following a series of events at the 2015 Headies Awards in Lagos after Marvin Record starlet, Reekado Banks, beat Olamide’s protégé, Lil Kesh, to the coveted Next Rated Artist prize.
A visibly irritated Olamide expressed his frustration at the decision when he accompanied another YBNL act, Adekunle Gold, who won the award for Best Alternative Artiste, to receive the award.
“He (Lil Kesh) is our next rated artiste. He had back to back hits throughout the year – Lyrically, Shoki, Gbese and Efejoku,” he said among other things before throwing the mic away and storming off the stage.
The situation took a turn for the worst when Marvin Record boss, Don Jazzy, apparently feeling slighted, told Olamide to come and take the car, which went with the Next Rated award, if he wanted it.
While receiving the special recognition award, Don Jazzy said, “I came out here to support my children. As they were trying to present the award, Reekado Banks was performing at Ali Baba’s show. I have already told my children that I will buy cars for all of them… Egbon Olamide, if you want the car come and collect it.”
The comments enraged the YBNL boss who took to Twitter to insult his Marvin Records counterpart, warning him to stay away from Lagos mainland.
In a series of tweets the YBNL boss accused Don Jazzy of ruining D Banj’s career and oppressing artistes signed to his record label.
After leading the Marvin Records crew to perform at the One Lagos Fiesta which ushered in 2016 for thousands of Lagosians, it didn’t look like Don Jazzy’s next stop was to catch a beef.
D’banj as a singer and Don Jazzy the producer used to be the perfect team as the honchos of Mo’hits Records. But like a bolt from the blue, their hitherto smooth relationship collapsed in 2012 like a pack of badly arranged cards.

Ever since, fans and colleagues in the music industry have been begging the duo to come back together and rework their magic.
However, what could have been the perfect opportunity for the two heavyweights to address the issue came to pass on Sunday, September 20,at the Eko Hotel-venue of 2face Idibia’s Fortyfied Concert.
D’banj mounted the stage to perform some of his hit songs to the delight of the audience, and halfway through, he said he was going to perform a song, ‘Feeling Good’ produced by Don Jazzy and featuring 2face that was leaked online before it could be properly released.
He beckoned on Don Jazzy to join him on stage to perform the song, but Jazzy remained glued to his seat with new Mavin signees, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, and Dija.
Even when 2face begged the duo to produce one more hit together, Don Jazzy remained resolute. In 2face’s words, ‘Don Jazzy and D’banj, abeg make una do one more song, just one…. I take God beg una.’
D’banj instantly responded with the words, “Sure! It’s going to happen,” while Don Jazzy still remained on his seat without even a smile.
This led many of the guests in attendance to insinuate that D’banj was more eager for a come-back than Don Jazzy is.
Ace music producer and leader of Supreme Mavin Dynasty, Michael Collins (Don Jazzy) has hailed his former business partner, Dapo Oyebanjo (D’banj) for the feat recorded at the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) held in South Africa, describing him as the baddest entertainer he knows.
Don Jazzy was reacting to the MAMA Evolution awards won by D’banj, which the Kokomaster dedicated to the Doroboss. The Evolution awards is a new category honouring established artists who have made an indelible mark on African and global music culture.
“Shout out to the baddest entertainer we know on the MAMA EVOLUTION AWARD. Thanks 4 the dedication bro @Iamdbanj,” Don Jazzy posted on his Twitter handle.
Don Jazzy and D’banj established the successful Mo’Hits Records in 2004 which brought to limelight music stars like D’banj, Wande Coal, Dr. Sid, D’Prince and K-Switch.
The first album released by the label was D’banj’s No Long Thing in 2005. Other albums are Rundown & The Entertainer (D’banj), Mushin2Mohits (Wande Coal) & Turning Point (Dr SID). The label also released a compilation album called Mo’Hits All Stars along with many other singles from its artists which proved to be National Hits. Don Jazzy won various accolades including Nigeria Music Awards (NMA) Producer of the Year in 2006, and Nigeria Entertainment Awards Music Producer of the Year in 2007.
The label has also attracted foreign interest from international acts like Kanye West, Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z
However, the musical marriage between D’Banj and Don Jazzy ended on a sour note in 2012.

The pregnant Tiwa Savage is a highly saught after artiste as she is also an ambassador for MTN as well as Femi Otedola’s Forte Oil, Pepsi andMaggi.
Nigeria’s foremost producer, Don Jazzy and rap king, Olamide were spotted in this photograph giving their support to the All Progressives Congress, presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari during APC’s Lagos rally, which is ongoing at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

The Marvin boss popularly known as Don Jazzy has debunked earlier report on a section of the media that he had a ghastly motor accident and died.

He disclosed this via his istagram page on Thursday. He assured his fans that he is well and very much alive and was not in anyways involved in any accident.
