Dakuku’s Attack On Odili, Height Of Frustration, Rascality – Rivers PDP

The Rivers state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bro. Felix Obuah has described the allegation by Mr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, defeated Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the April 11, 2015 General Election, that former Governor Peter Odili and his wife, Justice Mary Odili were ‘used’ to procure the verdict of the Supreme Court which validated the election of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike as absolutely false, misleading and showing lack of respect to the Odili family.

Hon. Dakuku Peterside

The PDP Chairman further described the attack by Mr. Dakuku Peterside on Odili and his wife as the height of frustration and rascality.

He said that Dakuku and the APC has pushed it too far in their desperation to take over the reign of leadership of the State.

Bro. Obuah said the insult on the revered Statesman and his wife, a respected Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria has again exposed Mr. Dakuku as bereft of respect and regard for elders.

The PDP Chairman while condemning what he called Dakuku’s penchant for insulting elders, said the attack was one insult too many and reminded him of the popular proverb which says that “an obedient child lives to grow old while a scornful child is only digging his early grave”.

Bro. Obuah who noted that disrespect for elders was alien to the culture and tradition of Rivers people, advised Dakuku and members of his APC still licking their wounds following the Supreme Court judgment to jettison selfish interest for the sake of peace.

The Chairman described Dr. Peter Odili and his wife, Justice Odili as worthy citizens of Rivers State who deserved the respect and regard of Rivers people, having worked tirelessly to etch their names on the marble, adding that the generality of Rivers people owed the couple a duty to protect and guide their name jealously.

Bro. Obuah declared that those who knew Dakuku growing up had expected that he would have outgrown childish behaviors that were characterized by irresponsibility and rascality, noting that those with proper upbringing talk to elders with respect and dignity.

The PDP Chairman said the people of the State remained eternally grateful to the Supreme Court of Nigeria for foreclosing Dakuku’s ambition to continue to cause crisis in Rivers State, adding that the judgment of the apex court was indeed an act of God.

Bro Obuah said it was in view of the foregoing that the PDP and well-meaning people of Rivers State demand unreserved apology from Mr. Dakuku Adol Peterside for insulting Dr. Peter Odili and his wife, Justice Mary Odili, while the PDP would take further steps to seek redress and call on Dakuku to account for his days in government as Works Commissioner.

PDP invites Amaechi, Dakuku for facility tour of new Rivers Under Wike

Excited by the magic wand of the Rivers State governor, Chief Barr Nyesom Wike that is impressively returning the State to its past Garden City status, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bro Felix Obuah wants the immediate past State governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and his surrogate, the defeated All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate in the April 26, 2015 election, Dakuku Peterside to make out time for a facility tour of the new Rivers State under Governor Wike.

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has predicted that the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, will be eventually vindicated
Nyesom Wike and Romiti Amaechi

The State PDP chairman through a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam said the facility tour will not only teach the failed duo of Amaechi and Peterside how to make judicious use of public funds for public interest which they could not do in their capacity as both State Chief Executive and Commissioner for Works for eight years respectively but will also enable them re-master the rehabilitated roads and streets and construction of new ones in the Port Harcourt metropolis and its environs, so as not to miss their way any time they are in town.

Prince Obuah said this is the crux of the matter and the core reason for aspiring to leadership position and not necessarily hijacking power for sheer bravado that characterized their eight year long administration that left nothing but a legacy of misery and abandoned projects behind.

Ironically, the State PDP boss regretted, rather than admire and give kudos to this man of history, Chief Barr Nyesom Wike is being vilified for not towing their outdated ignominious path of self-enrichment at the expense of infrastructural development of the State and the general welfare of Rivers people.

“But seeing they say is believing, it’s no longer a matter of unnecessary exaggerations, hoodwinking the people into a world of make-believe that were their stock in trade while their administration lasted. Ours is democracy in action and food for thought for doubting Thomases.

The magic is nothing but applying accountability, transparency and commitment to duty in the management of State resources.

The rehabilitated streets and roads and construction of new ones across the State are only an iceberg vis-a-via the lofty ideals of Governor Wike to transform the State into a haven for investors, and a promised land for all peace loving progressives irrespective tribe, ethnicity, nationality and, or religion”, Prince Obuah assured.

PDP Condemns Dakuku’s Call For Violence

Says He, APC Should Be Held Responsible For Insecurity, Violence during Re-run Elections in Rivers

Concerned over the vicious implications of the call by the All Progressives Congress Governorship candidate in the 2015 Governorship Election in the State, Mr  Dakuku Peterside, on members of the party to conduct themselves violently and not to leave anything to chance in their quest to cease power in the State by all means, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, strongly condemns the choice of violence by the APC chieftain, calling on the security agencies to immediately avert bloodletting in the State by prevailing on him and other chieftains of the APC.

Hon. Dakuku Peterside
Hon. Dakuku Peterside

The PDP says it is adverse that Mr. Dakuku who ought to advocate free and fair elections, not only in Rivers State but in the country, last Saturday, during an APC event, called on members of his party to fight and ensure that they have overwhelming control of affairs at the various polling units across the State during the INEC planned re-run elections in the State next month.

The PDP expresses dismay that the APC led by the former Governor, Amaechi, Dakuku, Abe and Ikanya prefers violence to civilized and democratic means of contesting and assuming political power in the State, recalling that this was not the first time the APC leadership had incited or stimulated their supporters to take up arms against their political opponents and defenseless masses in order to intimidate or silence them from participating in electoral process and contests in the State. This has been the consistent preferred position of Mr Dakuku and other APC leaders, even in the face of no provocation.

Calling on political supporters to fight during the conduct of re-run elections has some caustic consequences and is an invitation to anarchy in the State, and considering the potential of this avoidable development, we urge members of the minority Party,  the APC, in the State to reconsider their option and choose the path of peace to ensure participatory, free and fair elections.

We equally and strongly appeal to the good people of Rivers State to join in condemning the preference of violence and call for anarchy in our beloved State by the APC folks, assured that perpetrators of violence in the State will not have a field day, as the PDP will do everything possible to get justice accordingly. We therefore, admonish youths in the State to resist violence and to report any APC leader or politician who engages them to cause bloodshed and other violent acts in the State to relevant authorities of Government, assuring that Rivers State Government under Governor Wike will continue to abhor violence and social vices in the State.

The PDP again urges the law enforcement agencies to avert the possible destruction of lives and properties in the State by the APC leaders and their followers, calling on President Buhari and the national leadership of the APC to prevail on their members in Rivers State, and to demonstrably convince Rivers people that they are not in support of the violence and mayhem Dakuku, Amaechi, Abe and others have planned to visit on Rivers State with action and public statement dissociating themselves from their stance.

Dakuku set to free Rivers from Wike"s evil grip - APC

•Greets Governor-in-waiting on his 45th birthday

Astute Politician and Administrator, Hon. Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, will in the first quarter of 2016 liberate the people of Rivers State from the shackles of evil and maladministration to which they have been subjected in the past seven months by the Nyesome Wike administration, the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said. The ray of hope was contained in a statement by Rivers APC congratulating Peterside on the occasion of his 45th birthday on Thursday, 31st December, 2015. Peterside is the Rivers APC candidate for the State Governorship Election which both the Election Tribunal and the Appeal Court have ordered to be repeated within 90 days after voiding the sham polls of April 11, 2015 that illegally brought Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to power.

Hon. Dakuku Peterside
Hon. Dakuku Peterside

“We wish to heartily greet our Governor-in-waiting on the occasion of his 45th birthday, which is coming shortly after his repeated victories over Wike and the PDP in the courts of law. We have no doubt that he will repeat this feat during the forthcoming Rivers re-run gubernatorial election. This has become imperative in view of the sharp increase of insecurity, kidnapping, armed robbery and diverse criminal activities in our dear State since Chief Wike became governor by force on 29th May, 2015. We thank the good people of Rivers State in advance for their votes and wish to reassure them that Peterside shall, upon assumption of office as governor, wipe away the tears which Wike has inflicted on them,” Rivers APC said in a statement signed by the State Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya.

The statement issued Monday in Port Harcourt noted that “victory for Peterside in the court-ordered re-run polls will go a long way to address the three principal injustices visited on some sections of Rivers State4 one of which is the Riverine areas of the State not occupying the seat of power since 1990.” Continuing, the party said: “The second injustice to be addressed is that of the Ogoni, a key tribe of the State, not producing a Governor, Deputy Governor or the Speaker of the State House of Assembly since the creation of the State as far back as 1970. The last injustice is that of the South-East Senatorial Zone not producing the Governor since the creation of the State, as Rivers East produced Dr. Peter Odili while Rivers West produced Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, thus leaving the South-East in the cooler all these years.”

According to Rivers APC, “Dakuku’s candidature is a divine script. It enables APC to achieve two of the three necessary goals of conceding power to the South-East Senatorial Zone and also shifting power from the Upland to the Riverine area of the State. Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, from the Riverine area of Opobo/Nkoro LGA, is a veteran federal lawmaker, a symbol of unity and a symbol of hope for Rivers State and her teeming population.”

The party warned that if Wike becomes governor, it will make the Upland to govern the State for 24 years, thus effectively excluding both the South-East and the Riverine from governance of the State. “This to us in APC is the highest injustice that can be meted to a fellow partner in the growth and progress of our dear State. This is the mission and goal of the struggle and battle for the soul of Rivers State,” the statement said.

It described Peterside as a personality widely accepted by all the sections of the State, a symbol of unity, visionary, egalitarian and most importantly a patriot whose love for Rivers State and her people is infectious. In addition, according to Rivers APC, “Peterside is a man who has earned a reputation as a charismatic and disciplined leader; creative and hardworking, a broad-minded fellow with strategic insight. He brings integrity, compassion, pro-poor perspective and intellectual dimension to bear in tackling tough national issues. His loyalty to friendship and bridge building skills are remarkable. Respected as one of the most result oriented, meticulous, consistent, trustworthy and God fearing political leaders. In all public offices he has held he has brought innovation to bear and made remarkable impact that has endeared him to his fellow compatriots. He is a role model and mentor to several young persons, who look up to him for inspiration.

“As we congratulate him for turning 45 we urge him not to relent until the total freedom of River State from the politics of WIKEdness is achieved.”

PDP Fingers Amaechi, Dakuku Over Plans To Stop Hosting Of Int’l Football Matches In PH

The chairman of Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bro Felix Obuah has described as shocking and regrettable the alleged attempt by the All Progressives Congress, APC led-federal government to have FIFA transfer last Tuesday’s World Cup Qualifier between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Swaziland from Port Harcourt to Abuja, and the plan that subsequent international matches be played in Abuja.

A statement from the office of the State PDP chairman and signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam accused the Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi and his political stooge, and failed All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate in April 11, 2015 governorship election in the State, Dakuku Peterside as having a hand in the botched attempt, saying this is not the first time the duo are teaming up to work against the interest of the State in their spurious attempt to get back at the PDP controlled government.

Information available according to the PDP, link the unsavoury news development to Mr Dakuku Peterside, revealing that he, and Amaechi prevailed on the APC led-federal government to write to FIFA on the need to shift the venue of the international football fiesta to the federal capital territory, citing political issues as the reason.

The main reason nonetheless, is that Rivers State is PDP controlled and nothing else, Bro Obuah insisted.

Describing the evil collaboration of Amaechi and Dakuku Peterside against the State as dangerous politicking, the State PDP chairman wondered why sports should also be politicized, saying it’s a threat to the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria.

“Notwithstanding, the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the State besides the revamping of the infrastructural and social amenities in the State by Governor Nyesom Wike who is a sports enthusiast will continue to place the Garden-City of Port Harcourt on world map and number one choice to sports lovers across the globe.

The sabotage by Mr Amaechi and Peterside will therefore not change anything”, Bro Obuah declared.

Bro Obuah commended Rivers people for their peaceful conduct during and after the match, which has further proved Amaechi and Dakuku wrong, that Rivers State is politically unsafe to host any international match.

Tribunal Judgment: Wike Is Still Governor - PDP

…Allays Fears Of Rivers People

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reassured the Rivers people and its supporters across the State that notwithstanding the compromised ruling of the election petitions tribunal, nullifying the State Governorship election and ordering for fresh election in the State, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike still remains the Executive Governor of the State.

PDP
PDP

Reacting to what it called a travesty of justice and rape on democracy, the State PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah said no matter the degree of conspiracy by the All Progressives Congress, APC-led federal government, the falsehood and gang-up against Rivers people will amount to a nullity in the end.

Bro Obuah while urging the Rivers people not to panic over the pre-empted judgment which had been decided long before the written addresses by the parties were adopted Thursday, October 22, 2015 cited section 143, subsection 1 of the Electoral Act 2010 which guarantees an elected governor to stay in office and continue to execute his duties as the State Chief Executive as long as a notice of appeal is given against the judgment within 21 day from the date of the judgment notwithstanding the decision of the election tribunal.

And not minding the certainty of winning any future elections in the State against the conspirators, the State PDP Chairman said this is one tribunal judgment that will never stand, stressing that the PDP will get to any legal height possible to fight the injustice.

There is no other reason why the tribunal hurriedly delivered the contraption it called judgment in less than 24 hours after adopting the written addresses on a matter that lasted over four months than to pre-empt the judgment of the Supreme Court against the tribunal by the PDP which comes up next week Tuesday, the Chairman noted.

“The good thing is that by the hurried judgment, the tribunal chairman has exposed his partiality and shot himself in the leg by defying all legal procedures and going ahead to deliver judgment on the APC petition when there is an impending matter hinging on the appeal at the Supreme Court just as he refused to vacate his seat as chairman of the election petitions tribunal for the State Governorship Election Petitions despite PDP’s resentment on questions of integrity and impartiality.

Notwithstanding all this, in the end we shall have the last laugh”, Bro Obuah declared.

“Men have today Saturday, October 24, 2015 after being compromised serve their immoral judgment, God would soon give justice in the governorship election in Rivers State” Obuah assured

PDP Welcomes Dakuku’s Admission of Amaechi’s Faults On Judiciary, Projects Collapse in Rivers

1

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says its position on the dilapidating state of public facilities and failure of government institutions in the State has been vindicated, following the admission by the All Progressives Congress, APC, Gubernatorial Candidate, Dakuku Peterside, on 93.7Fm live radio programme (View Point) in Port Harcourt on Saturday, January 31, 2015.

PDP and APC PDP and APC

The PDP states that the truth on the colossal damage the APC government under Gov. Amaechi and his cohorts has done to Rivers people will continue to unfold, and confessional statements made by them for Rivers people to know that PDP has always been right in its claims.

The party receives with grave concern Mr. Peterside’s position to sell off major government-owned business investments and some public facilities, which either provide some social services to the people or generate some revenue for the State, if elected as governor, noting that rather than initiating productive and development-sparking  ideas that would enhance the revenue base of the State, the APC governorship candidate prefers taking actions that would impoverish the State, thereby causing untold hardship and poverty on the masses.

The party also expresses reservation on the decision of Mr. Peterside to destroy some residential areas, particularly the waterfronts in parts of Port Harcourt, wondering whether he is oblivious of the fact that majority of Rivers people live in such areas, and demolishing the areas without providing an alternative place, will lead to total displacement and sacking of people from Port Harcourt.

Acknowledging Mr. Peterside’s courage in condemning Governor Amaechi’s failed Monorail project, the Kesley Harrison Hospital concept (a supposedly Public Private Partnership Project), and the undemocratic and arrogant manner he (Amaechi) handles the Judiciary issues, which led to the closure of the court in the State for over 11 months, the Party urges Rivers people to reject the APC at the polls as Peterside’s admission is a confirmation of his adoption of Gov. Amaechi’s legacy of failure in the State.

The PDP also observes that the APC Candidate failed to proffer solution to the biting unemployment situation in the State, particularly the empowerment of the youths, who form over 45 percent of the total population of the State, wondering how someone will aspire to be Chief Executive of a State like Rivers, and will not have any plan for the teeming youth population.

In like manner, the PDP is of the view that the assurance by Dakuku Peterside to sustain the 30 percent projects reservation principle for the Governor in projects awards, as contained in the Public Procurement Law of the State, violates the democratic principles of due process, observing that such position will not provide any check on the financial recklessness  and abuse of executive powers by a sitting Governor, especially those of them from the APC, who have continued to exhibit attitude of  absence of regard for transparency  and accountability in governance and in handling public funds.

The PDP notes that although, it is not disappointed that Mr. Peterside refused to take advantage of the radio programme to provide explanations as to why he was beaten and stripped naked on March 10, 1993, when he was a student at the Rivers State University Science and Technology, RSUST, Port Harcourt, the Party calls on him (Dakuku) to publicly explain to Rivers people what happened, as his silence obviously proves his hypocritical Christianity.

The Peoples Democratic Party therefore, reiterates its readiness to provide a transparent and responsible government for the people of the State, and also calls on the electorate to massively, come February 14 and 28, 2015, respectively vote for Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, for President and Chief (Barr.) Nysom Wike, as Governor, and all other Candidates of the PDP, for a better and prosperous Rivers State.

Wike"s camp in disarray as Rivers Elders Reject him - APC alleges

2015: ROYAL BLESSINGS FOR DAKUKU PETERSIDE A SIGN OF IMMINENT VICTORY

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has congratulated its governorship candidate for the February 28 election, Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, on his endorsement by royal fathers in the State, describing it as a sign of his imminent victory during the forthcoming polls.

Hon. Dakuku Peterside Hon. Dakuku Peterside

Dr. Peterside has so far visited and received the blessings of First Class Kings in Rivers State such as King Kaleh Obuge, Oda Abuan King of Abua; Onneh eh Eleme, King Ejire; Eze Ekpeye Logbo Eze Robinson Robinson;

Amanyanabo of Bonny, King Edward Asimini Pepple; and the Kalabari Monarch, King TJT Princewill.

Out of all the Kingdoms so far visited by Dr Peterside, his visit to the Ikwerre Kingdom is the most audacity as he was duly received and endorsed by the Ikwerre Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers in Isiokpo, the spiritual and traditional headquarters of the Ikwerre ethnic nationality as the sole governorship candidate for the Ikwerre nationality for the February 28 election. The Council comprises First Class and all Government-recognized traditional rulers in the four Ikwerre local government areas in Rivers State which comprise Obio/Akpor, Port Harcourt City, Emohua and Ikwerre. The Council, which declared that its endorsement of Dr. Peterside, was out of its resolve to uphold equity and justice by ensuring that the riverine section of the state produced the next governor, emphasised that by its action, no other governorship candidate would receive its endorsement. The paramount rulers enjoined all Ikwerre sons and daughters all over the world to support Dr. Peterside come February, 28. Significantly, the PDP Gubernatorial candidate is a son of the Ikwerre Kingdom and with his rejection by his people we can now understand why his camp is now in disarray.

The significance of this historical endorsement is that all the past Governors of Rivers State including Dr Odili and Governor Amaechi were once endorsed by this body of Royal Fathers before they were elected to be Governors thereby foreclosing Chief Wike from governing Rivers State come May, 2015

“The overwhelming endorsement of the candidature of Dr. Dakuku Peterside by our revered traditional rulers is a sign of imminent victory and yet one more proof that Rivers APC made the right choice in electing him to fly our flag during the February 28 governorship election. Dr. Peterside is a well-brought-up youthful manager of men and resources who has been prepared for leadership by the invaluable lessons he received from elders across the State,” Rivers APC Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said.

Ikanya in a statement issued Thursday in Port Harcourt assured the royal fathers that Dakuku Peterside will not disappoint them but will live up to expectation if given the mandate on February 28. “Dr. Peterside has tremendous respect for the traditional institution; he will not only carry our respected royal fathers along if voted into power but will also build on the solid foundation laid by Governor Chibuike Amaechi,” Dr. Ikanya said.

He added: “With Peterside as Governor, Rivers State would be in the best possible hands because he is an accomplished manager of men and resources widely accepted by all the sections of the State for being a symbol of unity, visionary, egalitarian and, most importantly, a great patriot whose love for Rivers State and her people is infectious. Peterside is a man who has earned a reputation as a charismatic and disciplined leader; creative and hardworking, a broad-minded fellow with strategic insights. His election as the next Governor of Rivers State will usher in an era of peace and greatness for our beloved State.”

The Rivers APC Chairman noted that while Rivers monarchs and elders have embraced Peterside, they have vehemently rejected the candidature of Chief Nyesome Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “It is not surprising that Wike’s camp is in disarray as he has been rightly rejected by Rivers State Elders and Leaders, who see his imposition as an affront and a symbol of injustice since it is another way of saying that our riverine brothers have no right to produce the Governor of our dear State. We call on all Rivers people to collect their Permanent voters Cards and to use this wisely on February 28 by voting massively for Peterside and for the APC,” Ikanya said.

Dakuku, Asita, Amaechi were members of same cult during school - PDP

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP says the appointment of Honour Okorie Asita as a running mate to the All Progressives Congress, APC imposed Governorship candidate, Dakuku Peterside has confirmed that there is no other reason for the appointment of the two candidates by Governor Chibuike Amaechi than to protect his business interests and shady deals.

Rotimi Amaechi Rotimi Amaechi

The party in a statement by the State Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah and signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Jerry Needam said both Okorie Asita, Dakuku Peterside and Governor Amaechi were members of the same cult during their school days.

The PDP believes that if Amaechi had no ulte rior motive in the two appointments, he would have realized that Asita O. Asita is not the best and proper candidate to be so appointed from the Ahoada axis of the Rivers West Senatorial District.

Asita’s appointment, the PDP notes is an insult to the Engenni people and Ahoada West having represented the area for too long with nothing to show for it.

“It’s regrettable that Gov. Amaechi could not see any other person from the area to be so chosen other than a particular person (Asita Asita) who has held political office for 15 consecutive years, having served as a two time Council Chairman for Ahoada West, Special Adviser (SA) to former Governor Peter Odili, former State Commissioner in addition to the eight years he has spent in the Federal House of Repsresentatives.

Also in 2007, same Asita Asita ensured that his nephews, Miler Awori and Wanaka Okpokiri were elected as Council Chairman and Deputy Council Chairman respectively.

This is the height of inconsiderateness for others”, the PDP regrets.
