Osaze sparkles, crackles ribs in Obahiagbon style

Super Eagles rave of the moment, Osaze Odemwingie has returned to his tweeting best. This time, he is causing laughter and bringing joy to many instead of his initial arrows that were fired and caught him in the web of missing the World Cup.

In tweeting yesterday, Osaze went the way of his Edo-born brother and politician Festus Obahiagbon.

Commenting on events at the on-going World Cup where his goal against Bosnia has brightened the way for Eagles progression in the tournament, Osaze wrote; ‘’ “The draw against Iran was the foreset origo that caused some crinkum crankum to be directed at us that was caught in the Bermuda Triangle.”

Another one reads: “The state of OGaM ogam was rejected by the eagles with a higi haga style to avoid a calamitous end that brings odoriferous Saga.”

On the Eagles’ journey to Porto Alegre, he wrote: “We are about to fly to Porto Alegre to prepare 4 the game vs Argentina. Hope the flight time will not be longer than a period of Ayonai .”

Many foreign Journalists were left wondering on which planet he was writing from. Only few of us from Nigeria know where he was coming from. Laughter!

NFF Condemns Keshi’s Eagles, Brazil 2014 22 Man List

There are strong indications that the Nigeria Football Federation and national team coach Stephen Keshi are headed on a collision course over the release of a provisional list for the pre-World Cup camp.

The camp opens in London on May 26, two days before a friendly match against Scotland at Craven Cottage.

The technical Committee of the NFF which met in Abuja last week is demanding for the immediate  release of a 35-man list from the coach.

But Keshi is insisting he is not in a hurry to release the provisional list, adding that he was being put under undue pressure by the technical committee..

The coach was said to have accused the NFF of not passing through the right channel as he has only been reading on the pages of newspapers that he was to submit a 35-man provisional list..

“I am not in a hurry to submit the list. First, the report was that I was to submit 40 names. Now I am hearing it is 35 players. I will only submit a list of 30 players when I am ready,” he insisted yesterday

The federation was hoping to announce this provisional list of 35 players for the World Cup by the end of the week.

Relations between Keshi and the federation became frosty last week when Keshi was queried for attending a sponsor’s event in Lagos on the day he had an appointment with the technical committee.

He was also accused of embarking on an unapproved vacation in America.

Sources at the NFF disclosed last night that Keshi had also failed to reply to the issues raised in the query by the Chris Green-led committee.

After the May 28 friendly against Scotland, the Eagles will play two more friendly matches against USA and Greece in America before leaving for Brazil on June.11. (0)

Women in revealing clothes deserve rape – Brazil poll

RIO DE JANEIRO (AFP) – In Brazil, the land of mini bikinis and voluptuous carnival dancers, most people say a woman who shows off her body deserves to be raped, according to a poll that has triggered outrage.

FashionOf the 3,810 respondents of both sexes who responded to the government’s Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA) survey released this week, about 2,480 — 65 percent — justified raping women who wear “clothing that shows off the body.”

And 58.5 percent of respondents also agreed that “if women knew how to behave, there would be fewer rapes.”

Most of the May-June poll’s respondents — 66.5 percent — were women.

Brazilian women — and some men, too — promptly reacted angrily on blogs and social media to the study’s findings.

Journalist Nana Queiroz launched an online protest event on Facebook that invited women to take pictures of themselves topless while covering their breasts accompanied with the phrase: “I don’t deserve to be raped.”

Around 2300 GMT Friday, about 20,000 women simultaneously posted their photographs online.

Results were posted on the Tumblr microblogging platform.

Queiroz, 28, said she received several threats of rape while she led the protest online.

“The most surprising thing is that it is permissible to walk naked in the Carnival, but not in real life,” Queiroz told AFP.

The study revealed a well-known Brazilian paradox in which a cult-like obsession with the body and sensuality clashes with the society’s dominant conservative Catholicism.

President Dilma Rousseff also criticized the poll’s results, saying the government-run study shows that “Brazilian society still has a long way to go.”

“It also shows that the government and society must work together to tackle violence against women inside and outside the home,” she said on her Twitter account.

Last year, Rousseff signed a law aimed at protecting victims of sexual violence.

The Catholic Church criticized the law, saying it marked a first step toward broader legalization of abortion in the country with the world’s biggest Catholic population, at 123 million.

During the 2010 presidential campaign, Rousseff had flinched under Christian churches’ pressure and vowed in writing she would not decriminalize abortion, in a move that disappointed feminists and some fellow leftists.

Abortion is currently only allowed in Brazil in cases of rape within eight weeks of pregnancy, or when the mother’s life is in danger.
