A Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Bayelsa East, and Chairman of Silverbird Group Ben Bruce-Murray has taken a swipe on the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun over his recent utterance.
Oyegun had called for an investigation of Supreme Court Judges in South East over the backdrop of his party’s loss of Rivers state governorship seat to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Oyegun made the call during a meeting with delegation of the party from Port Harcourt led by party aspirant, Dakuku Peterside who crashed out of the judgement of the state election petition tribunal.
The APC Chairman said “We have lost very important resource-rich states to the PDP. No matter how crude oil prices have fallen, it is still the most important revenue earner for the country.”
Reacting to the assertion, Ben Bruce-Murray wondered if the party is in power because of oil, condemning his boldness to threaten the Supreme Court Justices.
The Senator said “Are you telling Nigerians the only reason you are in power is because of oil? And you are bold enough to threaten Supreme Court Justices!
“When the Chairman of the ruling party calls for probe of Supreme Court Justices due to unfavorable ruling, it ridicules the anti corruption war.
“We should all be good sportsmen like ex President Goodluck Jonathan who did not even challenge his defeat in court. Who else could have done that?
“Let us be mature and learn to accept defeat instead of calling for the probe of Supreme Court Justices.
“My name is Ben Murray Bruce and I pray that nobody will start arresting Supreme Court Justices!”
Are you in power because of oil - Ben Bruce-Murray replies Oyegun
