The embattled National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh has expressed disappointment over the way and manner the Economic and Financial Crime Comission (EFCC) is bent on maligning his name.
Olisa Metuh was arrested over his alleged involvement in the $2.1bn arms deal which originated from the office of the former National Security Adviser (NSA) office, Sambo Dasuki.
Speaking with the PDP Director of New Media, Prince Deji Adeyanju who paid him a surprised visit where he is being detained by EFCC, Metuh narrated his ordeal in the hands of the commission, saying that the commission is bent on blackmailing and spoiling in his name by telling lies against him.
Prince Adejanju who went in company of a friend and some members of the PDP, said Metuh who looked tired and grey was very happy to see him.
Lamenting his pains when asked if he was being treated well, Metuh said “Deji you know I am very strong. They can’t break me.”
“They have tried to blackmail and spoil my name. Just imagine all they have said about me. Telling lies against me.
“First they said I was collecting N5 million naira monthly from office of National Security Advisor (NSA). “Imagine if you were my staff, how would you feel if you heard that?” He asked Prince Adejanju.
“Imagine how all the news men and my staff working with me felt when they heard the lie that I was collecting N5 million Naira from Dasuki.”
“They would say, ‘This man is a wicked man o. So he was collecting money from Dasuki and other places and was always telling us there was no money’.”
“Then they said I received N1.4 billion. That is another big lie. All what they wanted was for everybody to see me as a common thief and hate me.
“Finally they came back to say I only got N400 million. I have made a statement that the former president asked me to do an assignment for him.
“In my statement, I stated that former President Goodluck Jonathan gave me an assignment to do for him. He asked me for an account number, and I gave him my company account details.
“I got N400 million in the account which I used for the job he asked me to do. I gave him a report on the job and he was satisfied.”
EFCC had complained that Metuh torn the confessional statement he made when asked to sign. The commission also claimed that the PDP spokesperson alleged to die of hunger instead of releasing the money traced to his account from the office of the NSA.
