Nigeria to be Africa’s sole representative in the top 20 economies by 2030

Nigeria is expected to be the only Africa country amongst the 20 largest economies in the world by 2030, according to Africa Venture.

Nigeria currently Africa’s largest economy with a GDP of $510 billion.


This is indicated in a macro-economic projection by the US department of Agriculture.


The United State will top this elite group of economies with a Gross Domestic Product of about $24.8 trillion followed by China with a GDP of $22.2 trillion, while India will be come third with $6.6 trillion.


On the list, Nigeria comes on 19 position followed by Netherlands.


In January, CNN reported and projected Nigeria amongst the fastest growing economies in the world in 2015.


According to the forcast, Nigeria is expected to grow by 7% this year (2015) after growing by 7.1% in 2014.

Despite narrowly escaping the bottom slot, the World Bank has predicted Nigeria to rise gradually by 5.1 percent till 2017.


Countries like Nigeria, the Philippines and Vietnam have distinguished themselves as “risers” in global GDP rankings over time. This indicates an average growth rate of 5.5 percent per annum till 2050.
