PDP Begins Screening of Rivers Assembly Aspirants

The Peoples Democratic Party Screening Committee today Thursday, November 6, 2014, commences screening of all aspirants on its platform for the Rivers State House of Assembly election.

The Committee sitting at the State Secretariat of the Party, along Aba Road, at a Press briefing said a total of 109 aspirants are to be screened, assuring them of fairness, transparency and justice in carryout their national assignment in the State.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Pascal Ugbome, in his remarks said its mission is to make sure that the Party presents competent, credible and qualified persons for the election, and that its responsibility is not to witch-hunt any aspirant, but to ensure a level playing ground for all eligible contestants.

Hon Ugbome, who assured the Party and the aspirants that the Committee will be in the State as long as the screening exercise takes, and in line with the Party guidelines on screening exercises, however, said members of the Committee are not on trial, but as professionals and competent personalities, having the mandate of the National Working Committee, NWC, the Committee hopes to dispense its mission creditably to the satisfaction of the Party and all those who present themselves before it.

Receiving the list of Committee members from its Chairman, the Rivers State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon Ibiba Walter, on behalf of the State Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah, commended members of the Committee for their disposition to conduct a fair and transparent screening exercise, assuring them of the total cooperation and support of the leadership of the Party in the State.

The State Secretary further told the Committee that the leadership of the Party is very hopeful that those screened in will demolish the All Progressives Congress, APC, during the election and those screened out will not defect from the Party.

Other members of the State Assembly Screening Committee include, Hon Biliaminy Ogundele, who serves as the Secretary, Prince Lawrence Eze, Dr Paddy Njoku and Epheram Aluebhosele.
