Amaechi spending state reserve fund to lobby as Buhari running mate - PDP

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has attacked the State House of Assembly over its approval for the state governor, Rotimi Amaechi, to access the N19 billion in the State reserve funds.

The party noted that the purported approval is a mere cover-up for all the State Funds embezzled, diverted for personal use and reckless spending on the activites of the All Progressives Congress (APC), by the state governor.

In a statement by the State Chairman of the party, Bro felix Obuah, made available to NAIJA CENTER NEWS and signed by his Special adviser on Media, Jerry Needam said the way and manner Governor Amaechi is going about the purported withdraws with no evidence of what he spent the previous one has raised a doubt that the previous reserved funds claimed never existed.

The PDP demanded that the governor made public the banks used for the transaction and the details of such savings and withdrawals if he insists he is not trying to be too smart and fooling the people of Rivers State.

It could be recalled that Governor Amaechi had said that he could no longer complete some projects he had started due to problems relating to fund.

Reacting to the statement, the PDP queried the governor on why he claimed there was no fund and stagnate all developmental projects if the state has 19 billion naira in the state reserve.

PDP said “The truth is that he used all the State money to pursue the numerous court cases against him and his acolytes, sponsoring campaigns against President Goodluck Jonathan which caused him heavily through frequent travels and meetings, honorariums to his army of visiting fake supporters from the North and West. He has incurred irretrievable debts which can only be covered by such fraudulent illegal approvals by his accomplice lawmakers,” the PDP alleged.”

It could be recalled that Governor Amaechi was given similar approval four months ago, to access over N30 billion from state reserve funds allegedly for completion of ongoing projects which only he, and his close lawmakers know where they are located which is yet to be accounted for before getting another round of approval.

The party claimed that Amaechi’s request to access the reserve is to use the money in the State treasury to pay for General Muhammadu Buhari’s fee for the APC Presidential ticket which, according to reporters, Amaechi is seriously lobbying to be paired as his running mate.

“Unfortunately, he is wasting his time because he will be betrayed again but before he realizes this he would have mortgaged the entire State,” the PDP regretted.
