It was earlier reported that there was a heavy gunfire in the Presidential villa vicinity and the headquarters of the Department of State Service in Asokoro District of Abuja.
It was said that a member of the Boko Haram attacked armed SSS, disarmed him and led to the shooting.
But one of the residence said that they didn’t know what was going on as heavy gunfire was coming from the direction of the villa. He disclosed that the entire area was barricaded and SSS operatives were scampering out of their headquarters as the gunshots get louder.
He also said that soldiers were heading in the direction of the SSS headquarters with armoured Personnel Carriers and they were asked to stay in doors.
Responding to the issue, Spokesperson of the SS, Marilyn Ogar said the gunshots was as a result of an attempted jailbreak at the headquarter by a detained member of Boko Haram and promised to gather more information before speaking further.
Later, Reuben Abati also said ” What happened at the SSS Headquarter has nothing to do with the villa. President Jonathan is safe and well. Thank you for your concern and support.
