Two dead as PDP governor aspirant convoy crash in Benue

Two people have died in a crash involving the convoy of a People Democratic Party’s governorship aspirant in Benue State, Mr. Simon Anchaver, with one other person critically injured and receiving treatment at a hospital in Makurdi, the state capital.

The accident occurred yesterday night, just after Anchaver had brought his interest form to the national secretariat of the PDP in Abuja, to contest in the next general election in the state. He had also held a rally in Makurdi celebrating his homecoming.


The governorship aspirant who confirmed the incident, disclosed that he has paid for mortuary and hospital bills for both the two that are dead and the critically injured one that is at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi.


Describing the incident as regrettable, he urged his supporters to pray for the repose of the dead, whom he described as fallen comrades.


Anchaver who is a former labour leader in the state, maintained that the incident has not in anyway affected his resolve to rule the state if elected, adding that his aspiration enjoys the support of the Benue people.


It was gathered that while in celebration mood two of the cars in the convoy, were involved in the ghastly accident which also affected two motorcyclists, also in the convoy.
