We must judge Buhari with his past – Sen Obanikoro

By Dapo Akinrefon

The immediate past Minister of State for Defence, Sen Musliu Obaniko has said that Nigerians should judge Gen Muhammadu Buhari, the APC Presidential Candidate by his past and not what his party presents him to be in 2015.

Addressing a rally he organised under the aegis of the Goodluck Sambo Independent Campaign Group in Lagos, Obanikoro said Buhari is not electable.

“We cannot continue to judge Buhari based on what we think he will do in future. He should be judged by what he did as a former head of state” he said.

According to Obanikoro, the assaults committed by Buhari and his regime cannot be swept under the carpet.

“His assault on Pa Awolowo, Late Bola Ige, Former Gov Lateef Jakande among others cannot be forgotten.

“The worst crime was his stopping of the Lagos Metro line which would have put Lagos state on a pedestal of sorts” he said.

On the Buhari certificate saga, The ex Minister said that the saga cannot be patched up saying that the APC wanted to patch up the issue but must not be allowed.

On why Nigerians should vote for Jonathan, Obanikoro said that the President is serving Nigeria without discrimination and has helped Nigeria’s democracy to grow by guaranteeing freedom of speech for all.

“Jonathan has made Nigeria his constituency and has never discriminated against any tribe” he said.

The Senator noted that Nigeria was moving towards food sufficiency with thee agricultural policies of the Jonathan’s administration.

He however urged Nigerians to vote for the Jonathan/Sambo ticket and for Mr Jimi Agbaje in Lagos state.

“PDP remains the party to beat in this election and we are sure of victory” he added.
