Oil Pipeline Bombing: Military plans to hatch secret plans in Gbaramatu Kingdom - Niger Delta group

According to a statement issued by the group National President, Alaowei Cleric Esq, the group said that the military has issued an evacuation warning to the members of the community or face a hostile invasion.

Alaowei also noted that the soldiers shoot sporadically every night from Warri Naval Base to the direction of these communities.

The group President said ” The military attempt to unearth the perpetrators of the recent pipeline bombings in Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West LGA of Delta State has taken a different dimension.

“What the military Joint Task Force is doing to the riverine communities is a demonstration of military prowess to its enemies in order to coerce them into doing its biddings.

“We are disturbed or rather appalled by the military belligerent attitudes towards the riverine Ijaw communities over the pipeline destruction by hoodlums.

“If the military refuses to retrace its aggressive steps towards these defenseless Ijaw communities then we may be forced to believe that the military has an ulterior motive against the Ijaw communities beyond looking for the culprits of the dastardly act.

“Our attention has been drawn to the activities of the Nigerian armed forces to the inhabitants of Sandfield 1 & 2, Ogbogbene, Hotel and Fenegbene in Warri South West LGA of Delta State.

“We’re reliably informed by members of these communities that the military has send a warning to them that they should evacuate theirs ancestral lands.

“They also said the military send a stern warning to them that should they refuse to heed to its warning, it’ll invade the communities in the name of searching for the culprits of the pipeline bombings.

“In a manner apparently to manifest its plan, the military is shooting sporadic gun shorts almost in every night from the Warri Naval Base into the direction the of these communities.

“The people cannot sleep with their two eyes close, while several others have deserted the communities as a result of the threatening gun shorts. Even up till this moment they are still running for their dear lives.

FHRACC agreed to the constitutional responsibility of the soldiers to fish out culprits but warned that it sh ouldn’t be used as an avenue to infringe on peoples’ right.

“We are quite aware that the military has the constitutional responsibility to apprehend the culprits at anywhere, it should not use its sacred duties to invade other people’s rights without any justification.

“These communities are far from the place where the said acts were alleged to have been carried out. What is happening to these communities has crumbled the business of the area. The people cannot go about their lawful business since the military threatened to attack them.”

Delta State: Military Invasion of Gbaramatu Kingdom, a war against defenceless citizens - Delta group

A Delta state based group, Foundation for Human Right and Anti-Corruption Crusade (FHRACC)  has condemned the invasion of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area in the state by the Nigerian military.

The military is stationed in the community to fish out the perpetrators responsible for the destruction of crude oil pipelines by some faceless hoodlums.

The group described the move as an act of war against the defenceless citizens.

FHRACC accused the soldiers of victimizing the residents of the community by trying to coarse them to admit guilt while some are ordered to produced the perpetrators.

The group President,  Alaowei Cleric Esq issued the statement on Monday in Warri.

Alaowei said ” The invasion of some of the communities in the Kingdom by the military in the name of searching for the perpetrators of the said illegal act which led to the people completely deserted their communities is callous and highly condemnable”

“These communities which have hitherto been victimized psychologically through the destruction of the ecosystem occasioned by the bombing of the oil facilities in their domain should be protected by the military and not to be made a sacrificial lamb.

“We feel very disenchanted in reading reports from some national dailies as well as some eye witness accounts that the military tried to coarse some of the villagers to admit guilt while some were ordered to produce the perpetrators.

“How on earth can an harmless man catch someone who probably must have been armed? It is regrettable that the military is reported to have warned that the communities will be held responsible for any further destruction of the crude oil facilities by the unidentified criminals.

“This is a manifestation of their plans to wipe out the entire Kingdom by justifying it with the acts these economic saboteurs. The military siege in the Kingdom is not the solution to the problem particularly now that Tompolo has laid a weighty allegations on some highly placed personalities in the Niger Delta region. The FG should look into Tompolo’s allegations line by line.

“Perhaps they may help the Government to fish out those saboteurs. The proliferation of arms to some miscreants to ferment trouble in the just concluded Bayelsa guber election by some of those he accused is still very glaring. The military should not target its actions to the innocent riverine dwellers. These people who may be victims of crossfire should the military engages the hoodlums in a shoot out need their protections and not invasion.

“We are also aghast or rather disappointed that the military is planning to ban the use of 200 Horse Power outboard engines in the creeks. That’s most condemnable. There is no where car is banned from plying the roads because armed rubbers used a particular car to rub.

“The entire Burutu and Warri South West LGAs of Delta State have not been connected with road networks to the uplands. The only means of transportation in these LGs is the use of flying boats mounted with 75 to 200 horse power outboard engines. If the people should not use these boats to transport their goods and services from one place to another, it is as well means that the people should die of hunger for being in a difficult terrain. This is an economic sanction which should only be applied in a situation of war. The Ijaws are not war with the FG. You can’t made the entire race to suffer from the sin of one man.”

Buhari media chat a disappointment - Delta group

A Delta State based group, Foundation for Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Crusade (FHRACC) has described President Muhammadu media chat as disappointing.

General Buhari
General Buhari

The group in a communique by its National President Barr. Alaowei Cleric said the chat brought to mind subjugation particularly the President playing the role of judge in the ongoing anti corruption war.

FHRACC said Buhari has passed judgement to selected few, adding that there is no law that denies anybody standing trial bail.

Cleric said ” President Buhari’s first media chat is disappointing. It brings to mind misery and subjugation of popular will particularly his resolved to be a judge in the anti corruption war. Those accused of corruption particularly some select people have already been convicted by Mr President. ‘

“He is now exercising the functions of the judiciary by passing an executive judgment against some alleged corrupt individuals standing trial. There is no law in Nigeria that denied Dasuki and any body standing corruption trial bail. Also in the case of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, as far as our judicial system is concerned, bail is the discretion of the court no matter the gravity of the offense.

“If Buhari is not satisfied with the courts decisions, let him order the prosecuting agencies to file an appeal against the verdicts. It is not in his position to decide who to be granted bail and who not to be granted bail. That is the exclusive function of the judiciary. He should be guided with the principles of separation of power enshrined in the Constitution, 1999 (as amended).

“His postures clearly showed that he has no respect for the constitution. His answer to the IPOB’s protests in the South East is provocative, scornful and it smack of total disregard to provisions of the constitution which seeks to balance the Federal appointments among the six geopolitical zones. Mr President cannot expect the Igbos to feel being part of his Government when he denied them of sensitive positions in his Government in gross violation of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) particularly under section 14 of the Constitution.

“His media chat in all, gives no hope in sight to the growing economic challenges the Country is facing as he failed to answer so many critical questions. The only good thing we can get from the chat is his condemnation of the impending financial recklessness in National Assembly although to failed to tell Nigerians the truth about the alleged N18b he is planning to service the Villa in 2016 in the face of the growing hardship in the land”.
