Nigerians, particularly the igbos have reacted over the honour and praise for the late Gen. Benjamin Adekunle popularly known as black scorpion.
The murmuring started from the house of representatives by two igbo reps, Mr. Arua Arunsi, and Mr. Udo Ibeji who refused to give a moment of silence to the late Gen. when the speaker, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal requested a moment of silence Adekunle.
The members bluntly refused to observe a minute of silence for Adekunle, a civil war hero nicknamed “Black scorpion” for his reported exploits during the war on the side of the Federal Government.
Adekunle had died on Saturday at the age of 78 years while the lawmakers were on their annual recess.
The two reps intentionally sat down grumbling, which made the speaker to end the silence sooner with ”may his soul rest in peace”
There was subdued laughter in the chambers after the prayer ended, with many members looking in the direction of Arunsi and Ibeji.
Meanwhile, other igbos who took to the post on the social network, Facebook equally expressed their anger as they described Adekunle as a man who made name and was asked to be honoured for killing his own fellow nationals.
One of the posters,Onyeabo China Ifeyinwa Onwuka, said “He lived badly and died badly. That’s enough dying actually. If anyone told this muntulas that Adekunle will one day solicit help from an Igbo COAS, he would have cursed the day he was born.
“While he was busy killing the igbos, his mates were sharing oil well and he it none. Adekunle should go to hades and burn to ashes, anyone who doesn’t like my comment can scratch his bum and smell it. If you need help, just bark like a dog.
“For those who want him to be recognized like Ojukwu, on the day of his burial, remember to close your shops.on the day of Ojukwu’s burial
“We closed our shops, BBA, Trade fair complex, Alaba, CMs, wuse market, main market closed for three days, ogbete closed. These guys were not FORCED NOR COERCED to close their shops, they just did. Close yours when its time.

Another poster, Nwachukwu Ugochukwu who took on the government for intentionally ignoring him when he asked for financial assistance said “This is the man you want honorable men to give a moment of silence. My friends were all over the internet with the picture of this same Adekunle seeking for financial help for him but even your Tinubu could not help him. Now that maggot finished him up and he is dead, you want to honor him? Is that how you behave?”
Chris O. Nwaorah said “If western Education is the type most of the Yorubas receive, I will be very proud to be a illitrate, on reading the comments here from them and always, yet despite their “highest level of educational attainment” in Nigeria, they split the Southern Nigeria for them to remain “servitudes to the North” till thy kingdom. Adekunle who murdered civilians and children “AFTER THE WAR”? And some people are here praising his acts, and wish Nigeria to be One Nigeria? ONE NIGERIA MY FOOT!”
Dayo Fadina “There were just some characters on both sides of the war; the Ojukwu side and Gowon side, who should not be honoured at all. Murtala Mohammed, Benjamin Adekunle; Ojukwu, Gowon etc. These guys were psychopathic murderers of innocent civilians. Their names should be totally wiped off the list of Nigerians to be honoured!!”
Adekunle made his name, Black Scorpion on his role during the Nigeria civil war, he supported the Federal Governement and killed many Biafrans rather than moved for peace. Some Igbos who angrily spoke with NAIJA CENTER NEWS said he killed children, women and anything on sight and cannot be praised for such callous action.
