Boko Haram attack Governor Nyako in Adamawa State

Barely 48 hours after the Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako lashed at the military for their negligence on handling and tackling the problem of Boko Haram, he has been allegedly attacked by gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram.


Boko haram attacks nafNyako was attacked on Friday by unknown gunmen at Shuwa Madagali local government area of the state while visiting the victims of the last attack to sympathize.


It was gathered that the moment the governor took microphone to address the sad and broken people, two men in military uniform came out of nowhere and shot three times into the air.


The Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence, Senator Mohammed Jibrilla Bindo, condemned the attack on Governor Nyako. He said that his attack is a confirmation that Boko Haram can get to anybody in the country.


Meanwhile, the lawmakers under All Progressives Congress (APC) said that the attack on the governor of Adamawa state is to keep the security on alert and a sign that they need to change their strategy in tackling the menace.


He said, “The attack on Adamawa State governor has now demonstrated that “nobody is safe” in Nigeria.


“I called on the security agencies to change their strategies in line with resolution of the  committee which on Wednesday ordered the army headquarters to relocate to the 7th Division in Maiduguri in order to tackle the Boko Haram sect. I condemn in strongest terms the attack on the my Governor Murtala Nyako.”


“This shows that nobody is safe and even after the recent attack, security is still not tight even as there is state of emergency in place,” Bindo said.


What could not be confirmed by Naija Center News is there whereabouts of Governor Nyako’s security aides knowing fully well that most governors travel with security operatives particularly knowing that he was visiting a location highly unsecured. (0)
